Feast of Tabernacles 2010

In the event you aren't committed to attend a particular Feast of Tabernacles site for the coming year, we'd like to suggest you give some consideration to coming out to Grand Junction. This Feast Site is sponsored the Christian Church of God, our eleventh year doing so. This small flyer will give you some idea of the area's scenery, accommodations, amenities and what this open, friendly site offers.

In 2009, the Feast was held at the Wine Country Inn in Palisade. This is a first rate hotel, allowing attendees to stay in the same facility where services were held. There was no need to 'commute' for most who attended. (There are less expensive accommodations in the area.) At present, it is anticipated that the Inn will be used again in 2010. All who attended here in 2009 rated the facilities very highly.

Grand Junction stepped out in faith and first began hosting the Feast of Tabernacles locally in 2000, and has done so every year thereafter. The congregation first realized in 2002 the need to become independent in order to hold fast to the beliefs and practices long taught in the faithful Churches of God. Services maintain a traditional format emphasizing the essential purposes of God's Annual Festival, the coming Millennial Kingdom and the hope it represents for all mankind. This congregation extends a right hand of fellowship to all who share the indwelling of God's Spirit and the vision of God's Kingdom, no matter what their affiliation. The Spiritual ambiance present reflects what is typically found in smaller congregations and where growth in grace and understanding is the goal.

The Feast typically begins with an 'opening night' service beginning the first day. Services are held in the mornings of each day, with a variety of speakers, leaving afternoons open for any number of private and organized group activities. One day during the week is dedicated to a fellowship or family day activity, open to all attendees. In 2009, there were interactive Bible Studies, a Seniors Luncheon, group hikes, a bus trip to Glenwood Springs to enjoy its many unique activities, and a Formal Banquet with live entertainment and dancing.

The Wine Country Inn provides a full buffet style FREE hot breakfast each morning, well worth $10 to $12 per person, effectively offsetting some of the cost of the accommodations, and providing even greater opportunities to meet others informally and to fellowship in a relaxed atmosphere without the inconvenience and time consuming need to drive to a breakfast restaurant off site. Each of the accommodations connects to the meeting area without having to go outdoors, if weather is inclement.

Special Rates are available to attendees. Advance registration and reservations are highly recommended. Contact us for a information and registration packet.

The town of Palisade is located at the east end of the Grand Valley, on Interstate-70, just out of DeBeque Canyon when coming from the east. Denver International Airport provides reasonably priced flights, and there is a local airport in nearby Grand Junction with direct flights from Denver, Salt Lake, Phoenix and Houston. Amtrak and Greyhound also offer service into Grand Junction. Pick-up can be arranged.

2009 FEAST OF TABERNACLES

2009 was OUR TENTH ANNIVERSARY providing a Feast site on the Western Slope of the Colorado Rockies!

Keeping God's Feast is so pleasant:

Psalm 133

1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For brethren to dwell together in unity!

2 It is like the precious oil upon the head,
         Running down on the beard,
         The beard of Aaron,
Running down on the edge of his garments.
3 It is like the dew of Hermon,
         Descending upon the mountains of Zion;
For there the LORD commanded the blessing—
Life forevermore. New King James Version

Here's our Feast report for 2009:

Again this year, our tenth, the Christian Church of God, Grand Junction, hosted the Feast of Tabernacles, this time in Palisade, Colorado. The
Wine Country Inn with it's enclosed courtyard, pool and hot tub provided comfortable and convenient accommodations, even beyond our expectations. Formal ball and senior luncheon meals plus daily buffet breakfasts were top notch.  The formal Ball also included musical dance entertainment.
Messages on Christian doctrine and prophecy were provided by independent speakers from several states.
Two well attended scintillating participatory bible studies elevated scriputral knowledge for all. Services were enhanced with music from choir, vocal solo and trio, piano, harmonica, clarinet and trumpet.
Activities included afternoon hiking, winery tour and an excursion to nearby Glenwood Springs where participants had a choice of mountain tram, river rafting, cave tours, amusement rides, and grand scenery, all under fine Autumn weather.
Many surveyed participants expressed a desire to do it all again in 2010.

For example, one attendee writes:

Letter from Dale

The Christian Church of God at Grand Junction, Colorado celebrated its 10 year anniversary of the Feast of Tabernacles this year.  This was my wife Colleen’s, and my 7th year of attendance there.  Although each year has been great, this really was a special F.O.T. for us.

Since the Worldwide Church of God changes, we have had doubts, some indecision, questions, and “What do we do now?” times.  Also much praying, studying, and asking God’s help, wisdom and understanding.  It seemed to finally start to come together late summer and fall.

The Feast sermons just seemed to finalize and solidify many things for us, beginning with Pastor Del Leger’s opening sermon and continuing with each speaker; all were very good.  Colleen and I felt as though we were finally “coming home,” so to speak, spiritually.  It was a really good feeling; it’s good to be back. This Feast put the icing on the cake.

Feast goers were from Colorado, California, Iowa, Wisconsin to name a few places, who came for spiritual renewal, especially since some of us are far from weekly services.  This then gives us our rare or only time of the year to meet with like-thinking Christians.

All services and activities were held at the Wine Country Inn and most attendees lodged there. Facilities and service were excellent. Daily deluxe breakfasts and wine tastings were included with lodging.

The Inn is surrounded by acres of vineyards as well as Colorado’s famous peaches, and other fruit orchards.  It is located at Palisade, Colorado, just 10 miles from the business and shopping center of Grand Junction, all in the Colorado River Valley of western Colorado.

This is an area of great and varied scenic beauty.  Close and far-off vistas and many scenic sites are close by without the high Rocky Mountain elevations.

Directly north of the facilities is the Palisade wall of the Bookcliff Mountains, to the southeast the 10,000 ft. plateau of the Grand Mesa dominates the views, an area with some 300 pristine lakes just a half hour drive in the car.  The Colorado National Monument is a half hour to the west, and popular Glenwood Springs, with its historic hot springs and many other attractions is within an hour’s drive to the east.

A group of us hiked to a mica mine back in some great scenic canyons one afternoon and some cliff hikes another day.  On our free day we took a tour bus to Glenwood Springs where several fun options awaited us.  There was river rafting, a cable tramway to the top of a mountain where we could do an alpine slide down the mountain, tour Glenwood Caverns plus much more.  Of course, the Glenwood Springs Pool offered swimming in the hot mineral waters.  (By the way, the famous gunman Doc Holiday is buried at Glenwood Springs.)

Another day we enjoyed a senior banquet.  This, along with the tour bus, was provided as a gift of the Grand Junction Christian Church of God.  Very generous and much appreciated by all.

We also enjoyed a dress-up dinner and dance one night and in the beginning of the week a get-acquainted social.  A good time was had by all on every occasion.

As already mentioned, this was an excellent spiritual feast with a great interactive Bible study also, group and one-on-one discussions along with good fellowship. Inspiring? You better believe it.

The local church makes available, free, many pamphlets as well as short-subject booklets on various aspects of the Bible. They are written by Pastor Del Leger. They are concise and very informative.

This was a great Feast of Tabernacles, 2009.  My only complaint is that it was too short; can you believe – only eight days.

Christian Church of God

Grand Junction, CO

Statement of Beliefs

We believe in God the Father, eternally existing, Jesus Christ His Son through whom He created all things, and the Holy Spirit as the power of God.

We believe that the Holy Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God.

We believe that the 10 commandments are in effect today as a set of instructions and God’s code of conduct.

We believe that salvation comes through grace alone and that we will be rewarded according to our works.

We believe that sin is the transgression of the law; that the penalty for sin is death; and that the penalty for sin was paid by Jesus Christ on the cross.

We believe that the Sabbath is the seventh day, from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset, appointed by God as a day of rest; and that the original apostles and the New Testament Church kept the seventh day Sabbath.

We believe that the annual holy days as described in Leviticus 23 picture the plan of God for mankind. By commemorating them we can better appreciate and understand our history and our future; and that they should be observed following the examples of the apostles and the New Testament Church.

We believe that Jesus Christ suffered and died on the cross for our sins, then rose from His earthly tomb after 3 days and 3 nights and now sits at the right hand of God.

We believe in baptism by immersion following repentance of sins and the receipt of the Holy Spirit by the laying on of hands.

We believe in 3 resurrections: the righteous to everlasting life; the uncalled to a resurrection of physical life (following the Millennium); and the incorrigibly wicked to everlasting death in the lake of fire.

We believe in the pre-millennium, post wrath, return of Jesus Christ. That He will set up His kingdom and that the saints will reign with Him for 1,000 years. We believe that Christ will return to establish His Kingdom following the Great Tribulation.

We believe in the Biblical dietary laws regarding clean and unclean meats; that these laws were given for our health.

We believe in giving of tithes and free will offerings.
